The Nokia 3100 is a wildly popular cell phone. A big part of the reason for this is because of its affordability, making it a great starter phone for teenagers and other young adults who want a quality cell phone but don't have a lot of money to spend.
But just because it's inexpensive doesn't mean it's lower quality. It just has less functions and features than some of its higher priced cousins. But it is strong in most areas that a cell phone should be strong in.

For example it has good sound quality, a strong battery life -- it can go for 2 to 6 hours worth of talking on a fully charged battery -- excellent graphics and colors (4096 colors, resolution 128x128 pixels), and instant messaging, text messaging, java games, and web browsing capabilities.
Other cool features for this phone include the ease with which it can be personalized -- cover plates for the phone can be had in a variety of colors. The cover for the phone also glows in the dark, which not only looks cool, but will help you locate your phone in the dark.
Although there are cell phones smaller than the Nokia 3100, it isn't a cumbersome phone and can be toted around easily in most pockets, or a purse.
If you have a lot of friends with whom you constantly get in touch with via your cell phone, you'll be pleased to know the Nokia 3100 allows you to store up to 300 contacts.
Another cool feature is that you can designate different ringtones to different friends and family so you'll know who's calling you before you even answer it.
